Using the muse, his voice, and a hollow wooden box with strings, Arlon Bennett works to assemble and create music that will evoke a multitude of feelings and represent a wide variety of inspiration to his audience. His emergence in the Folk and Americana scene in recent years has grown steadily. His efforts have been recognized with a multitude of awards and opeining for well known acts including Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Jill Sobule, Michael Smith, and others. He has been selected twice to perform at Noel ‘Paul’ Stookey’s Music2Life Showcase featuring America’s best songs of social consciousness.
He prides himself in his involvement in charity work because of the way music can reach people in a powerful manner. He has worked with NBC Philadelphia’s Wednesday’s Child, Hospice, and supported a multitude of causes including the Hudson Valley Food Bank. The lyrics to his song, “The Ace in Grace” were part of the dedication of the official statue of well-known tennis great, Arthur Ashe. In addition, Arlon’s song ‘Summer’s Voice’ was featured in a tribute video by the New York Mets in honor of Hall of Fame sportscaster, Bob Murphy. The video was shown at Shea Stadium.
