Kids’ Activities at the Gazebo

There are also a host of children’s activities on tap at the Highlands Festival at Waterloo. Many of the booths will off activities for children. All activities take place in the Gazebo area, unless otherwise noted.

Saturday 
Throughout the dayDiscover Why Climate Change Is Elementary
Through simple experiments and games, kids will explore the meaning and impact of climate change. Try one of three experiments on greenhouse gases, wind energy, and solar energy. Games will "Polar Bear Musical Chairs," "Eyes of the Hurricane (Science Detectives)" and "Atmospheric Bounce."

Throughout the dayExploring Science and Nature with Kaleidoscope Enrichment
Get close up and personal with an unseen world of microscopic water animals, wiggly worms, creepy decomposers, amazing plant life and more. Kaleidoscope will have microscopes on hand so you can meet members of the tiniest jungle, the creatures that keep our water and soil healthy and alive. There will be lots of opportunity to get hands on and learn all about the ecosystem beneath your feet.

Our team of animal experts brings laughter and learning through our renowned reptile and wildlife programs. Our goal is to show the world the magic and excitement that reptiles have to offer. Make clay tracks of wildlife in our bioregion and learn how litter affects our local wildlife through this popular "Critter and Litter" program. Aloysius the Alligator is a symbol that reminds us of the importance of recycling. Clean Communities "Thanks you for not littering." Some of the natural artifacts displayed are on loan from the Morris Museum through their School Loan Box Dept.

Deb D’Anne is a classically trained, multi-instrumentalist and plays guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin as well as electric gourd piano. Her unique style of fingerpicking and lyrics take you on a journey from the blues to country to campfire singalongs.
